Nursing

Posted by Celeste on Saturday, 5 June, 2010

Been working lately on what I want to do after I finish high school this upcoming December. I’ve decided on majoring in Nursing. I want to one day work in Pediatrics. I really love kids and for nearly five years have been caring for the same three kids every week. Originally nursing was to be my fall back plan to my writing. But the more I think about it and the closer I get to it the more I think I might make it more permanent. Not that I don’t want to keep writing because I do. I still hope to be published.

I found an opportunity that may be offered. I’m not sure yet if it’s one semester or a year. I can’t find that piece of information but it’s for ROP Nurse Assistant Training, and afterwards from my understanding I would take a test to become a Certified Nursing Assistant. Also from my understanding this class is offered free for high school students, all they have to pay for is some supplies. Which is great!

It will take me two years to get into the Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) Program, because of the prerequisites that are required. Then this program is two years long. I’m so excited none of this feels like it will be that long away. That it’s just a matter of getting busy and staying busy and just working hard to getting to where I want to be.

Well I have to babysit tomorrow and have to be up really early so I think I’m going to lay down and try to get some sleep so I can be rested. I don’t want to pull another all nighter like I did last Saturday, it was fun… but tiring!

Got Blood?

Today I had to go get my blood drawn for a lab. I warned the lady before she started that people usually had trouble finding my veins. She was good though. She got it in there quick and finished within a few minutes. I barely felt a thing! It’s like the older you get the less getting stuck with a needle hurts. Tomorrow morning I have a meeting with my guidance counselor to figure out what courses I’m going to take during the summer and if I will need anything for the fall. I’m keeping my fingers crosses.
